The Emailed Resume Has Become The Job Hunters Method Of Mass Broadcasting Job Applications and Expressions of Interest In Employment. --An Employers Perspective On What Should And Should Not Appear In An Email Body. |
Those who send employers emailed resumes are often failing to recognize one truth, we have all received them--hundreds of them. Over all they are boring and 98 percent are never opened. The logical question here is WHY? While emailing a resume can be convenient, far too many people have failed to make there email stand out from the crowd. |
Most email services such as Yahoo, Outlook, Windows rarely show more of an email body than the first few lines. A reader has to scroll down which creates another potential hurdles for someone looking for a job. Those first five lines must completely SUCK an employers attention in long enough to make them want to scroll down. You have to train your potential employer to want to scroll down on your email body. There's an easy way to do this and in the last 2 to 3 thousand resumes I've received I haven't noticed it done once. |

If you want to have your potential employer scrolling down on your email start with a picture of yourself. A picture is always worth a thousand words. Your picture should be of you from the waistline up, and in a very simple setting. In other words, if you're applying for a job in a Law Office, don't use a picture of you at a freinds stag party. Dress for your picture in a manner in which you would dress for the desired position. Let an employer get a feel as to what you look like, and how you'd fit in to the office environment. Below your picture, include a few brief lines stating clearly as to why you have contacted this person and the position you are seeking. immediately follow up with a very critical... |
