Resumes That Command Attention |
You have the background...the skill...the talent, BUT how do you gain the attention of an employer long enough to let them know that you are their only best option. |
Writing a great resume does not mean you should do everything you are told through the gossip circle. Your resume is a one-of-a-kind marketing tool. It has one purpose and one purpose alone...TO GET YOU AN INTERVIEW. Your resume should be targeted to the job, the area of employment you are applying for. Therefore, you might find it wise to prepare four to five resumes each targeting a slightly different style of job within your desired search range. Many people write a resume to read like a brag sheet of past accomplishments. If this sounds like your resume...throw it out! Your resume is to be crafted like a sales tool. The message it must deliver to a prospective employer is "This is how you (the employer) will benefit from hiring me." If you fail to deliver this message clearly in your resume, your interview will |
fall flat. Surveys show that typically, only one interview is granted for every 200 job applicants. Your resume has 5 to 10 seconds to get the attention of a potential employer, if you hope to find work or a source of income. The best and most effective resumes today are not work histories, but works that are crafted like sales advertising copy. To get that job, or source of gainful employment, your resume must focus on your prospective employers need and not your own needs. Your resume must read like a legal presentation. it should begin with a strong opening statement (objective statement) which delivers strong assertions about your skills and abilities, and states your intended goal. Then you must provide a section wherein you disclose the evidence to support your assertions. |
Finally, you must present closing arguements. If crafting a resume is an area you are struggling in, then much more detailed information and coaching consider looking at the very infomative website www.rockportinstitute.com/ resume . Make your resume stand out and knock them out! |
