An Employer's Perspective On How The Habits Created By "Texting" Is
Costing People Employment Opportunities.

(communications other than text
messages) where the entire
message is written in lower
case letters, without any
punctuation, and using
abbreviations totally unknown to
myself.

When looking for a job,
employment, full-time or
part-time work, and even if your
looking for a stay at home
self-employment income, it's
absolutely critical to look at your
communications from the
perspective of the reader.

Is it reasonable to assume an
employer will look beyond the
texting format of your
communication and focus only
on the content?

Or should you be demonstrating
to your potential employer
exactly how you would be
representing him or her to the
clients they have worked so
hard to build up and hold onto?

From an employers
perspective, when vast numbers
of emails or resume's are
coming in from potential
candidates, the first ones to go
into the trash bins are the ones
which demonstrate a low to
non-existent ability to present a
properly formated letter, which
suits a professional
environment. Leave "Texting"
for your friends and family.
No one needs to tell you how
times have changed when it
comes to looking for work. For
those who have been gainfully
employed in long-term
positions, the new employment
marketplace can leave a person
feeling further isolated and out
dated when it comes to current
technologies and how best to
use them.

We live in an era of Text
Messaging, but does this tool
work for you or against you?

Text messaging, or texting is
the common term for the
sending of short 145 to 160
character messages from
mobile phones using whats
known as "Short Message
Service" (SMS). It's available on
most of today's mobile phones.
The individual messages which
are sent are called text
messages.

For many of our students today,
texting has become a new
communication phenomina, but
it breeds a new form of
communication. Habitual
"texters", while mastering the art
of communicating in short
bursts, are radically failing the
grade when it comes to issues
such as grammar, spelling, and
proper writing styles.

As a person who is involved in
coaching people in business
and in new business start-ups, I
am alarmed by the number of
