Those who send employers emailed resumes are often failing to recognize one truth, we have all received them--hundreds of them. Over all they are boring and 98 percent are never opened. The logical question here is WHY? While emailing a resume can be convenient, far too many people have failed to make there email stand out from the crowd. |
What Is The Purpose Of An Emailed Resume? |
In preparation for writing this brief article, I've taken a quick minute to look at my email inbox and in particular the vast number of emails received by those seeking work opportunities. Among the many emails submitting resumes there are emails from persons identified as: "curseofcreative@...", "ridemehardertonight@...", "stonedwakeboarder@...", and "chugthatbrew@..." . Before anyone attempts to send a resume by way of email, they should give serious thought to every element of their email presentation. |
What's In An Email Address? |
Your email address should always be viewed as the engine at the front of the train. It creates the first impression a reader will have of you, and create interest in reading on or hitting the "delete" button. If your usual email address is one filled with a fun and crazy spirit then understand--an employer will not likely take your email seriously and dismiss it very quickly. I strongly recommend for persons who use email and attached resumes as a means of job hunting that they start by going to a free email server such as Gmail and create a professional sounding email address which will be used strictly for job hunting.
